How is Glorified
Publishers different from other publishers?
We see ourselves as a
combination of a regular publisher and a self-publisher.
We offer all the services of a regular publisher, but
you have the right to self-publish your book. As a
self-publisher, we offer more help for any areas that
you require than a traditional self-publisher.

How do I publish a
book?
We work with Lulu.com
to publish your book. You need a formatted
manuscript and a cover to complete the process. These
get uploaded to Lulu and they handle printing and
distribution. Glorified Publishers offers help
with proofreading, formatting, cover design to help
complete your book. Once your book is published,
we can also help with advertising.

Do you own the
copyright or do I?
You own the rights to
everything in your book. You can continue to send
your manuscripts to other publishers (that will pay you
up front royalties and other things) even after we've
published your book through us. If we have done the
formatting for your book, we will list Glorified
Publishers as the publisher, but you own the copyright.

What services do you
offer?
We offer a full range
of services that will take your manuscript from start to
finish. We will proofread your book and edit it
for style. Next, we can format your book for the
proper size. We can create a book cover or you can
choose from our templates. Then we can upload your
book for publication. Finally, we can help you
advertise your book to bring potential customers to look
at your work.

Why should you
proofread for me?
Even if you've reread
your manuscript and have had others look at it, there
are still things that can be missed. Things that
make perfect sense to you and others who may be familiar
with your writing style may not be clear to others.
There are even phrases and terms that are regional and
may not be understood by people in other parts of the
country.

How are payments made?
All payments to
Glorified Publishers are processed by PayPal. If
you don't already have an account, it is simple to sign
up. They are reliable and secure - they are used
by millions of ebay customers as well as many others.
Payments can be made using credit cards or drawn
directly from a checking or savings account.
Can I pay using something other than PayPal?
At this time we only
accept payment through PayPal. Their service
offers many different payment options and we feel this
is sufficient for the needs of our customers.
Do I have to buy a minimum number of books?
There is absolutely
no minimum number of books that you have to order.
You don't even have to order a copy for yourself but you
will probably want your own copy to look it over.
We work with a publish on demand printer so there is no
need to order numerous copies in advance. Because
of this, there is no up front printer's fee.
What sizes can I make
my book?
There are five book
sizes available. 6 x 9 is the standard size and is
what we work with most often. Other sizes are
6.625 x 10.25, 8.5 x 11, 9 x 7, 7.5 x 7.5. Check
out Lulu for what each size is recommended for.
Other book sizes may be available outside of Lulu and
can be listed on our site but we currently do not format for these.

How much does it cost
to print my book?
For most book sizes
the cost is $4.53 + $0.02 per black and white page.
(Color pages are $0.15 per page and the entire book must
be printed in color.) Therefore a 25 page book
would be $5.03 ($4.53 + $0.50) and a 200 page book would
be $8.53 ($4.53 + $4.00). Cost may vary with other
book sizes. Check Lulu's site for other sizes.
Printing prices drop beginning with quantities of 26 or
more.

How much should I charge?
You can charge as
much as you like, but obviously price affects how likely
people are to buy your book. You can set your
price based on how much profit you wish to make per book
or what you want the final price to be.
When setting your price, you should keep in mind that
Lulu collects a 20% royalty off of your total profit.
For example, if you had a 200 page book that cost $8.53
to print (see above) and decided to charge $9.53 for a
$1 profit, you would keep $0.80 and Lulu would collect a
$0.20 royalty.

Can I print in color?
Yes, you can print
your book in color. The important thing to
remember is that you will pay for all pages as color in
this case. For example, if you have five color
diagrams in your book but twenty five pages of text, you
will pay for all pages as if they were printed in color.
The price comparison is $0.02 per black and white page
vs. $0.15 per color page.
All book covers are printed in color and their price is
included in the normal printing process. You do not
need to select color printing to have your cover printed
in color.

Do I have to list my
book after publishing it?
If you plan on making
your book available to the public we believe it is in
your best interest to have your book listed with us.
However, if for any reason you don't want to have your
book listed you may request it to not be listed.

What's the difference
between me uploading my book to Lulu and you uploading
the book for me?
The first difference
is obvious - we do the work of uploading your book for
you. The second difference involves payment of
your royalties. If you upload your book, Lulu will
pay you at the end of the next month. (i.e. June's
royalties will be paid at the end of July.) If we
upload your book, we'll pay the previous month's
royalties at the beginning of the month. If
for some reason a sale is removed on account of a
returned book, fraudulent purchase, etc. we will notify
you and deduct it from the next month's commission.

Can I publish my book
somewhere other than Lulu?
Absolutely.
Even if we edit and format your book, you are not
required to publish your book through Lulu. You
can publish your book wherever you like.
top

Will you help me
publish somewhere other than Lulu?
We will gladly help
with editing, formatting, and book cover creation but
currently Lulu is the only company we work with as far
as uploading and printing. We may expand this in
the future to work with companies such as cafepress, or
others.

What size do I need
to make my cover?
If you want to make a
one piece cover, the size will depend on the number of
pages you have. Consult Lulu's site for more
information. If you are making a two piece cover,
the front and back should each be 6 x 9 inches. Lulu recommends a
resolution of 300 dpi. If you follow this
recommendation, your image would be 1800 x 2700 pixels.

What does an ISBN do
for me?
An ISBN has three
benefits. First, you can be listed in the Books
in Print. Second, an ISBN will allow you to
sell your book in bookstores. Third, with an ISBN
you can list your book with Google Print, a new service
that makes parts of your book searchable and contains a
link to where your book can be purchased.
